Hand Engraving
This is the cover of a Jaeger Le Coultre "Reverso" watch I have engraved with the bulino technique:
Bulino is a rather unknown technique in Germany. It has been developed during the last twenty or thirty years mainly in Italy.
There are also some famous masters like Ken Hunt in England or W. G. Churchill in the USA. Most bulino engravers are working on rifles and guns. This is the case also in Gardone Valtrompia near Brescia which is the italian center of firearm manufacturing.
In this place I had the possibility to learn the bulino technique in the workshop of Cesare Giovanelli. Also Giulio Timpini who was the master engraver at Beretta S.p.A. tought me many tecnical tricks.

During my stay in Gardone I had the pleasure to meet and know some of the most renowned engravers like Francesco Medici, Gianfranco Pedersoli and Firmo Fracassi. I am very grateful that they did share their knowledge and experience without any reserve.
